ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGIES PROGRAM

Empowering independence through technology.

At the Split Second Foundation, we believe that technology plays a crucial role in enhancing the independence and quality of life for individuals with disabilities. In partnership with the Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network (LATAN), we are proud to offer a comprehensive Assistive Technologies (AT) Program designed to equip our clients with the tools they need to navigate their environments more effectively.

Assistive Technology Loaner Services:

Our AT Loaner Services are here to bridge the gap while clients await permanent solutions. We provide a wide range of adaptive equipment on a temporary basis, allowing individuals to continue their daily activities without interruption. This program is ideal for those who are in the process of securing permanent devices and need immediate support to maintain their independence.

Equipment Offered Includes:

  • Mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walkers
  • Communication devices for those with speech impairments
  • Environmental control units to assist individuals with limited mobility
  • Adaptive computer accessories designed to facilitate easier access to technology

Flexible Loan Terms:

Understanding that each individual’s needs may vary, we offer flexible loan terms. The initial loan period for our AT equipment is set for an agreed timeframe, which can be extended upon the lease’s expiration if there is no further need for the equipment, ensuring our clients are supported as long as necessary.

Seamless Transition to Permanent Solutions:

Our goal is to ensure a seamless transition to permanent assistive technologies. Throughout the loan period, we work closely with clients and LATAN to assess their needs, help them choose the right permanent solutions, and assist with the acquisition process.
